The Newcastle Merchant Navy Memorial Committee invites you to the Annual Merchant Mariners Memorial Service. The annual service commemorates the service and sacrifice of Merchant Seaman in defence of Australia in time's of war, playing a vital role in keeping Australia's supply lines open.
Newcastle and the Hunter Region have a long and rich maritime heritage, dating back to the europeans first sighting of the Hunter River by Lt John Shortland back in 1797. Hunter Workers have been involved in designing, building, maintaining and crewing our ships over many generations and will continue be part of Australia's proud Maritime history.
