Peter Dutton dodges crucial question regarding fate of Hunter Workers

At a press conference in Newcastle this morning, Peter Dutton was asked about the 12,000 local workers who face imminent job losses as traditional energy industry declines.

But he evaded the question, because he knows the Coalition’s plan to build nuclear power plants and subsequently shut down various industries (like aluminium) and projects in the region (like Hunter offshore wind) will entrench widespread job losses.

Workers can’t wait 15 years without jobs. Our communities will not survive the Coalition’s plan!

Yet Dutton is happy to sacrifice Hunter workers for an energy source that CSIRO confirms will drive power bills up along with the cost of living.
