New data from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations confirms that Labor’s new workplace laws are working to improve wages for workers across the country.
The number of workers covered by enterprise agreements has risen to 2.21 million, and the average pay rise in the private sector has hit a 12 year high, with wages increasing by 4% in the June quarter.
However, this progress is under threat. The Liberal Party, acting as the willing puppets of big business, has committed to reviewing Labor’s workplace legislation if elected. This could jeopardise the wage increases workers are finally seeing after years of stagnant pay growth under the Coalition government.
Workers can’t afford to lose these gains amidst a cost of living crisis. Defending these workplace laws is crucial for securing better wages and ensuring workers' rights are safeguarded in the future.
FYI: According to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Union negotiated agreements consistently deliver better pay rises compared to non-union agreements. These results highlight the power of collective bargaining and the importance of Unions in fighting for fair pay and conditions. Join your Union now.
